As a youth living my life in my early 20s, a question in my head keeps coming back, ‘why aren’t we supporting the traditions that our ancestors passed down to us?’
Seeing the works of Lang Dulay, left me in awe. It was great! They are the dream weavers. No particular patterns, but solely based on their dreams. It was uncommon to see that kind of artwork, one of a kind.
Again, why aren’t we supporting this kind of art anymore? They deserve more attention from us, especially the youth because it is not only our duty to advance society but also to maintain the traditions left to us by our predecessors.
To Lang Dulay, one of the greatest traditional artists in our country, the youth promise you that traditional art won’t die. We will continue to support your legacy as a T’nalak weaver.
To my fellow youth, we are the backbone of the nation. The next time you see a traditional artist, do your best to support their tribe as well as their art.
