In honor of her rich and colorful legacy that truly made a mark in our country and mesmerized the world, we feature Filipino textile weaver and GAMABA (Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan) awardee, the late Lang Dulay.
The Tbolis’ artistry and creativity are evident in various art forms, such as their brass works and musical instruments, to go along with their great artistry in tribal dances. But what makes the weaving culture of the Tbolis famous is their tnalak. A Tboli cloth made from abaca fiber and natural dyes. They have the power to unite people as strong, resilient communities bound by living tradition and colorful textile patterns and motifs.
I am truly optimistic that this tradition will be passed on to the next generation and that they will still be able to see the beauty of weaving T’nalak.
Lang Dulay is larger than life. Lang Dulay is a true national artist. Lang Dulay and the Tbolis’ are irreplaceable.
