Lang Dulay on Inspiring Others

Updated: May 19, 2021

Lang Dulay is known to be a ‘’National Living Treasure’’, her life is an example of an individual who exudes the essence of identity and creativity in the art that had greatly contributed to our culture. She enriched our country’s tradition through her T’nalak Weaving which expanded our horizons to broaden our perspectives and activities regarding aesthetics and art forms.

I have learned through the life of a Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) Artist, that such a simple craft could manifest a great influence to other people, not only in your community but on the whole country. It teaches me that simple weaving with passion, vision, and hard work could contribute to the life of others. It enhances my beliefs to preserve, respect, and value all of the traditional cultures we have.

Her story is an inspiration for me to continuously venture into my creative aspect of arts. This encourages me to be innovative in dealing with my interest in life which aims to generate new ideas that would help me to express myself.

Moreover, I like to sincerely express my gratitude to the Dreamweaver, Lang Dulay, who showcased great talent in showing us beautiful designs and color combinations that she had deeply and fascinatingly woven into our culture. Her works are part of great exhibits that are recognized to be at the level of artistic excellence, by letting us discover and learn such craft in this lifetime is a great opportunity to be wholeheartedly active in participating to improve campaigns and events that will let the art live to persevere in the changing society.

I hope that her works will be passed to future generations and may the weavers be incorporated with her heart and soul in weaving to artistically show crafts and let her legacy be acknowledged, applied, and appreciated forever.
